In 1999 Sun Valley began the Willow Creek Division 40 miles east of the Arcata Division, across the low pass of the coast range. The farm lies in an inland mountain canyon at 640 feet elevation. The canyon micro-climate, with cooler winters, early spring, hot, sunny summers and extended fall, provides Sun Valley a location to specialize in flowers and greens that are relatively unique in the floral industry. These include Cotinus, Ilex, Lilac, Photinia, Physalis, Rosehips, Snowberry and Viburnum.
